| How to Backup a DVD Using DVD Shrink DVD Shrink provides a great way to protect your DVDs from everyday use by using copies instead of originals. Here are the basics to using this program. Put the original DVD in your DVD-RW. If any window appears, cancel it. Run DVD Shrink. Click on Open Disc. The Open DVD Disc window will appear. Be sure the Proper DVD Drive is selected if you have more than one Optical drive. Click OK and it will analyze the disc. When the disc has been analyzed, you will be presented with the disc structure. Be sure the target drive is your DVD Burner and click OK to start the copy. If you are asked to Delete files, go ahead and click Yes. They are previous files from the last copy This will display the Encoding window. This can take anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes, depending on many factors. When it is ready for the blank DVD, the Checking discs window will display and the original will be ejected. Just remove the original and put in a blank DVD and close the door. Nothing to click. Just wait a moment for the burning to start The burn will take 10-20 minutes. NOTE: There are 2 blank DVD formats available, PLUS (+R) and DASH (-R). If you own a ViPC Club Computer you can use both formats with no problems. However, some home DVD Player units and some computers can only utilize one or the other. If one type does not play, try the other, or consult your manufacturer.
